Libra Energy is an Australian developer of green energy projects. With head office in Brisbane, Australia, it develops solar and wind power projects in Africa and Asia.
Libra Pty Ltd trading as LIBRA ENERGY – Australian Company Number 011 076 038.
Libra Energy play an important role in fulfilling the requirements of developing countries in Asia and Africa. Electricity is an essential part of economic growth in growing countries and the requirements are urgent for many communities. We offer unique, practical solutions using the latest technology and inventive financial structure to developing economies. Libra is always seeking to partner with governments who are looking for long term innovative power solutions with a view to improve air quality and enhance people live.
Many governments in Africa struggle to finance their infrastructure needs such as power, water, roads, sewage and housing due to limited budget. We invite governments to join us in setting up a unique government – private partnership. In return we can develop the power stations and solve the electricity crisis. Due to our unique financial structure governments can generate income from the project to reduce its financial burden.
In a typical project we sign MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the government or local power distributor/authority. After a visit for the initial study we sign the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement), finalize the feasibility study, obtain the relevant permits for construction and grid connection and start construction.
Current projects:
Australia:
In Australia, we have setup Libra Energy Pty Ltd. This company owns 100% of our Bremer Battery near Ipswich in Queensland. We are developing 850MW/3400MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), 45 minutes drive from Brisbane. We completed the project scoping study and got the green light from the grid operator (the grid can handle our total quantity and there are no fatal flaws). We have several interested parties who want to buy the electricity from us (tolling battery use). We are now busy with the pre-feasibility study and connection application. Our huge battery of 850MW with 4 hours duration, will enable more renewable energy (like wind and solar) to enter the grid, and help stabilze the grid supply and demand during peak hours.
We can power double the population of the city of Ipswich with clean and green energy for the next 50 years!
Sol Srv Pty Ltd. have conducted the scoping study on February 2023. We engaged a communiy support and government liason consultants.
In 2024, Phronis consultants conducted the concept engineering design and single line diagram. We submited the connection enquiry to Powerlink on December 2024, and got the approval on 4th of February 2025.
The development application studies are conducted by Xenith consultants. We should be able to submit the application to the government by the end of August 2025. We expect approval by the end of 2025.
We are doing our part in helping the Queensland government target of 80% renewable energy by 2035.
Our green and reliable electricity, will deliver 1,228GWh/year to Ipswich, Logan, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Sierra Leone:
We currently have 300 MW under development divided into 3 projects in Sierra Leone as follow:
1. Free energy for 7,000 government schools with the ministry of education - 25MW PV solar panels
2. Free street lights for Port Loko and the villages near our 670 Ha site
3. 275 MW of solar PV power generation + 30MW / 60MWh battery for the WAPCOS/EXIM 225 KV transmission line.
Partners:
We have setup a consortium of competent companies and leaders in renewable energy to ensure execution of our power station on the highest possible standards.
Libra Energy develop the 300 MW project in Sierra Leone and engaged DERA Energy of Canada https://deraenergy.netlify.app/english/. DERA Energy is a leading Canadian developer and consultant that focus on renewable energy projects in Africa. They currently have several renewable power stations projects under developments and 2 offices in Africa.
DERA have conducted the pre-feasibility study for our solar PV project in Sierra Leone and identified 4 suitable sites for the power stations.
On 20 March 2019 we have signed a Head of Agreement (HOA) with a large construction company to build our solar power station. The EPC contractor, Sinoma Energy is a unit of CNBM https://www.cnbm.com.cn/EN/, the world largest maker of cement, clinker, plasterboard and fibreglass. This is one of the largest building materials groups in the world and own several solar panels factories.
The EPC contractor shall execute the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the 300 MW Solar PV farm named: "Sunny Solar SL". Sinoma Energy shall provide Operation and Maintanence (O & M) for the life of the project.
On April 2019 our consultant and local team visited our site near Port Loko in Sierra Leone to present the project to the elders and local chiefs. At the end of the visit they got their consent to use the land for the solar farm construction. on December 2019, we have signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Port Loko City Council for the 670 Ha site 5km from the sub-station. We shall provide free street lights for Port Loko and the villages near our site. This is another important step for us as we consider our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) a high priority and we like to take care of the community where we operate.
We are in discussions with potential clients in Indonesia, Gambia, Serbia, Montenegro, Guinea, Liberia, DRC, Zambia, Thailand, Sierra Leonne, Burundi and Nigeria for solar power projects. We plan to develop 30 GW of renewable power generation plants over the next 25 years.
Project developers who has existing PPA and require investment or developers to execute or partners can contact us.
We have the capacity and expertise to develop the projects from start to finish. We have very good relationship with our suppliers and sub-contractors.
Libra Energy have great relationship with renewable energy funds that are looking for more solar and wind projects to add to their portfolio.
Libra Energy is a member of the Libra Group of Australia which has more than 30 years of experience developing projects in Asia and Africa.
